Why do you need to see a speech pathologist soon after diagnosed with Parkinson's disease

You may already have deficits you cannot perceive due to sensory deficits.


Unfortunately, doctors may not perceive speech and swallow deficits, so you may have to ask for the referral yourself and advocate for speech pathology.


Research suggests that early exercise regimes with Parkinson's disease may result in neuroprotection and help stave off decline.


So get to it! Speech pathologists can help!
