"I Just Got Diagnosed. What Do I Do?"

Upon diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, there are a million things thrust at you. You are going through a lot. The best thing is to *research research research.* Taking control is important! Starting early is important! Early intervention helps stave off the progression of the disease!

It's not *if*; it's when.

Recent investigations show that there are early deficits in speech and swallow, which may not be reported to or noticed by the neurologist.

There are a lot of new things going on once you're diagnosed, and finding an SLP to manage your care should be one of them.
